Welcome! I would offer you a cup of Earl Grey and a scone, but, alas, the limitations of our digital age.
I spent much of my twenties raising two boys and reading every book I could get my hands on. Once I realized I simply had to write the books I loved, I finished my degree (English Major, History Minor) and embarked on a writing career. Mr. Darling and the boys gave me their wholehearted blessing.
When I’m not writing heroes who make me swoon, I run a marathon in a different state every year, visit crumbling medieval castles whenever I get a chance, and enjoy a slightly codependent relationship with my beagle, Bosco.
Inspiring Book Loves
MIDDLEMARCH BY GEORGE ELIOT
I love it for its humor and heart. I love it for giving me Dorothea Brooke, my favorite heroine in all of literature.
PRIDE AND PREJUDICE BY JANE AUSTEN
It, too, I love for its humor and heart. I love it for giving me Elizabeth Bennett, my second favorite heroine in all of literature. (Fighting words, I know!)
LOVE’S HIDDEN TREASURE BY CAROL FINCH
The first romance I ever read. It was such a fun romp, I never looked back.
BLACK SILK BY JUDITH IVORY
Exquisitely romantic. I return to it every year.
THE THOUSAND AUTUMNS OF JAKOB DE ZOET BY DAVID MITCHELL
Not a romance, but it inspired me to write this series. Lush writing. Vivid world-building. Top notch research. True inspiration.
Tea and a book together??
Timeless bliss.
